Basketball Recap: Cypress Creek Comes Up Short

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Cypress Creek couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 52-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Cloud Bulldogs on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 264th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 109th).

Arianna Viera continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. Cloud, putting up 18 points in addition to five assists and five steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Viera has scored at least a third of St. Cloud's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Savannah Kroener, who went 6 of 12 en route to 15 points.

Cypress Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for St. Cloud, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-8 record this season.

Cypress Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Cloud, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 39-33 victory against Harmony on the 8th.
