Softball Recap: Knoxville Central's Winning Streak Snapped at Six Games

Knoxville Central dropped their record down to 16-4 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They fell 4-1 to the Halls Red Devils. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-1 back in March.

As for Halls, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 26-4-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games.

For Halls' part, Emery Bales spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. Bales has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 17 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makaylie Hutchison, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Knoxville Central and Halls should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings. The Bobcats (ranked 32nd) will meet Morristown-Hamblen East (ranked 131st) at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Halls will challenge Grace Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (7 vs. 90). The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Red Devils 1, the Rams 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
