Baseball Game Preview: Maury Commodores vs. Norfolk Academy Bulldogs

The Maury Commodores are taking a road trip to face off against the Norfolk Academy Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Maury will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Maury's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Booker T. Washington, sneaking past 1-0. The one-run effort marked the Commodores' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Norfolk Academy). They were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over Norfolk Collegiate on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Bulldogs needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

Norfolk Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-10. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Maury, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.

Maury took their win against Norfolk Academy when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2 score. Will the Commodores repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
