Basketball Game Preview: Farwell Steers vs. Lockney Longhorns

Farwell has gone 9-0 against Lockney recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Farwell Steers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lockney Longhorns at 6:15 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Farwell has 11 straight wins, Lockney has 13 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, everything came up roses for Farwell against Sudan as the squad secured an 83-32 victory. The Steers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 22 matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Farwell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabella Jaime, who went 6 for 10 en route to 19 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Jaime has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Natalie Wade, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 21 points and four blocks.

Farwell smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in seven consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Lockney ended up a good deal behind Olton on Friday and lost 54-37. While losing is never fun, the Longhorns can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1169th, while the Mustangs are ranked 413th).

Farwell's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 27-3. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.6 points per game. As for Lockney, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.

Everything came up roses for Farwell against Lockney when the teams last played two weeks ago, as the team secured an 89-24 win. Does Farwell have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lockney turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
