Basketball Game Preview: St. Xavier Tigers vs. Collins Titans

The St. Xavier Tigers will face off against the Collins Titans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in St. Xavier's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

It was a proper cat-fight when St. Xavier challenged Newport on Sunday. St. Xavier walked away with a 68-61 win over Newport. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked first, while the Wildcats are ranked 40th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Collins came up short against Christian Academy-Louisville on Saturday and fell 67-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (55), the Titans still had to take the loss.

St. Xavier is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 20-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.8 points per game. As for Collins, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.

St. Xavier was able to grind out a solid victory over Collins in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 81-72. The rematch might be a little tougher for St. Xavier since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
