The Woodland Park Panthers will head out to challenge the Florence Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Woodland Park has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with four straight losses, while Florence will come in with four straight victories.
Woodland Park is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Lamar on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. The Panthers took a blow against the Thunder, falling 52-20. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-8.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Saie Soto, who rushed for 98 yards and one score. Nathan Summeril also helped out with an impressive 103 receiving yards.
Even if they lost, Woodland Park's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. Leading the way was Zach Summeril with two.
Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Florence on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that they blew Banning Lewis Academy out of the water with a 35-7 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Huskies had established a 21-point advantage.
Woodland Park better keep an eye on Noah Howard. He was instrumental in Florence's win, rushing for 153 yards and three TDs, while also throwing for 117 yards and one touchdown. That's the most passing yards Howard has posted since back in October of 2024. Another back making a difference was Ryan Robinson, who rushed for 81 yards and one score on only 11 carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Florence was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 236 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 202 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Woodland Park's defeat dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Florence, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Everything came up roses for Woodland Park against Florence in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 42-6 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
