Baseball Recap: Deptford Comes Up Short

Deptford extended their losing streak to six on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-6. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 4-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Delsea Crusaders. If the Spartans were looking for revenge after losing 21-1 to the Crusaders when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Delsea, they picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 2-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against Deptford since April 26, 2021.

For Delsea's part, Conner Harrison and Matthew DeCesari dominated on the mound. Harrison struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits, while DeCesari pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those eight strikeouts gave Harrison a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Dubois, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Pierce Delaney, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

While Deptford had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
