Baseball Recap: Frostproof Gets the Win

Frostproof lost to DeSoto County back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Frostproof won by a run and slipped past DeSoto County 2-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for Frostproof.

Luke Thornton made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He is becoming a predictor of Frostproof's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-7 when he doesn't). Thornton was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Thornton wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Edmonston, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Frostproof's record now sits at 4-8. As for DeSoto County, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Frostproof will welcome Victory Christian Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Victory Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season. As for DeSoto County, they will take on Bayshore at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
