Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Monterey Trail). They breezed by the Franklin Wildcats at home to the tune of 48-8 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

D'ADRIEN SANDERS was his usual excellent self, rushing for 208 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 9.0 yards per carry. Those 208 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of ODIE JEFFERSON, who rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry.

He was just one part of a punishing run game: Monterey Trail was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 399 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 161 rushing yards in 19 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Monterey Trail wouldn't let Franklin keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Monterey Trail can thank XAVIER COLLINS and KHARTER TURK for forcing both of them.

The win got Monterey Trail back to even at 4-4. As for Franklin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Cosumnes Oaks the next time they take the field. Monterey Trail will head out to face Cosumnes Oaks at 7:15 p.m. on Friday, while Franklin will host them at 7:15 p.m. on November 1st.
