Volleyball Recap: Rising Sun Wins Going Away Against Shawe Memorial

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Rising Sun had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers with a sharp 3-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in September.

Reese Merica had a dynamite game, getting nine digs and five aces. That's the most digs she has posted over her last six matches.

Merica wasn't the only good servers: Rising Sun was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in three consecutive matchups.

Rising Sun's record now sits at 18-13. As for Shawe Memorial, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-14.

Rising Sun has already played their next contest, a 3-1 win against Jac-Cen-Del on the 18th. Shawe Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
