Football Recap: Roxbury Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Roxbury had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-2 to make it six. They took a hard 28-13 fall against the Sparta Spartans. If the Gaels were looking for revenge after losing 41-6 to the Spartans when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Frankie Falco threw for 100 yards on 11 of 20 attempts. Blake Lieberwirth was his top target, picking up 36 receiving yards.

As for Sparta, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points in those games.

Sparta got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brady Shagawat out in front who rushed for 136 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 48 receiving yards. Those 136 rushing yards gave Shagawat a new career-high. Shane Hoover was another key signal caller, throwing for 255 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt.

Coming up, Roxbury will venture away from home to face off against Montville at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Sparta, they will host Newton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
