Sherwood Brown and Brett Comer starred on the Florida high school scene before becoming March Madness darlings.

Florida Gulf Coast University is the hottest trending team in NCAA March Madness this year, a No. 15 seed that slayed No. 2 Georgetown and No. 7 San Diego State on the opening weekend to advance to the Sweet 16. Not bad for a school that had never been to the tournament before.

Names like Sherwood Brown and Brett Comer are huge right now on the national scene. Beforehand, they were big on the Florida high school basketball scene.

Each will be in action Friday at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas against Florida, tipping off at 10:07 p.m., Eastern Time.

Brown graduated from Olympia (Orlando, Fla.) in 2009, and as a senior, he helped Olympia to a 28-5 record and a runner-up finish in Class 6A. He averaged 11.4 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for a team that finished 30th in the nation according to the Freeman Rankings.

Comer graduated from Winter Park (Fla.) in 2011 after he helped lead Winter Park to a 20-6 record and a 6A state title playing alongside Austin Rivers, who is already in the NBA. Winter Park finished 90th in the nation in the Freeman Rankings.
