Basketball Recap: Nelson County Takes a Loss

Nelson County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their 39th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the Gretna Hawks and fell 50-16. The Governors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-5.

Leading Gretna to victory were Chinara Miller and Shakira Jones. Miller dropped a double-double with 18 points and ten rebounds, while Jones posted 17 points along with seven steals and six boards. Jones has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Ashley Myers was another key player, putting up nine points.

Nelson County's loss dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Gretna, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9.

As of now, neither Nelson County nor Gretna have any future games scheduled.
