It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wimberley had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Robstown Cottonpickers with a sharp 45-20 win. Given the Texans' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Cottonpickers are ranked 780th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Maverick Jacobs was his usual excellent self, rushing for 195 yards and four TDs while picking up 10.8 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 101.5 rushing yards per game.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wimberley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 274 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Several Cottonpickers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. As for Robstown, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Wimberley wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 35-26 loss against Sinton on the 28th. Robstown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
