Softball Recap: South Pointe Stallions vs. Lancaster Bruins
South Pointe had lost 16 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-15 to make it 17. They came up short against the Lancaster Bruins, falling 21-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Stallions of the 16-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.
As for Lancaster, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-11. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
For Lancaster's part, Brianna Cataldo was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over four innings pitched. Cataldo was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Sheridyn Mickles was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Samaria Jackson, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI.
While South Pointe had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
