Baseball Recap: Spruce Creek Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

After losing to DeLand the last time they met, Spruce Creek decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Spruce Creek Hawks walked away with a 6-2 win over the DeLand Bulldogs on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Spruce Creek got a great performance from Garrett Grant as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over six innings pitched. Grant has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Lamar Edwards was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tyler Boyesen, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-4.

Spruce Creek's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-1. As for DeLand, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spruce Creek will face off against University at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
