Basketball Recap: Mikey Johnson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Zanesville over Johnstown-Monroe

Zanesville was the 53-45 winner over Johnstown-Monroe when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Zanesville Blue Devils took a 60-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Johnstown-Monroe Johnnies on Tuesday. The Blue Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Zanesville lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Mikey Johnson, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Lucca Wood, who put up 13 points.

Zanesville's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-11. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zanesville will challenge Licking Valley at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Johnstown-Monroe, they will square off against Northridge at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
