Baseball Game Preview: South Stanly Rowdy Rebel Bulls vs. North Stanly Comets

South Stanly is 1-9 against North Stanly since March of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Rowdy Rebel Bulls will take on the Comets at 7:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as South Stanly comes in on four and North Stanly on 24.

South Stanly proved they can win big on Monday (they won by ten) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mount Pleasant, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rowdy Rebel Bulls have posted against the Tigers since March 15, 2022.

South Stanly saw ten different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavyn Miller, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

South Stanly was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .469. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .444 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

North Stanly came out on top against Union Academy on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fifth inning. The Comets were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Cardinals. The Comets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by six runs or more this season.

North Stanly pushed their record up to 24-0 with the victory, which was their 22nd straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for South Stanly, their victory bumped their record up to 19-6.

South Stanly suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to North Stanly in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Rowdy Rebel Bulls avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
