Football Recap: Eastside Catholic Skates Past University with Ease

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Eastside Catholic walked away with it. They blew past the University Titans 48-0 on Saturday. Considering the Crusaders have won seven contests by more than 31 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Eastside Catholic's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Daniel Jones led the charge by rushing for 96 yards and two scores on only ten carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Tytan McNeal, who picked up 67 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Eastside Catholic proved: they limited University to a paltry 1.1 yards per carry. The Crusaders didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.1.

Eastside Catholic didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Cade Boehl and Junior Rasileka.

Eastside Catholic's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 7.7 points on average this season. As for University, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

As of now, neither Eastside Catholic nor University have any future games scheduled.
