Basketball Game Preview: Garner Longhorns vs. Perrin-Whitt Pirates

Garner hasn't had much luck against Perrin-Whitt recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Garner Longhorns will square off against the Perrin-Whitt Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Garner has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

Garner will head into Friday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 22) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Newcastle 56-54.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Perrin-Whitt). They breezed by Throckmorton to the tune of 109-18 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Pirates sure are getting used to it with their tenth in a row.

Perrin-Whitt pushed their record up to 25-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points per game. As for Garner, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.

Garner was taken down by Perrin-Whitt 98-21 in their previous meeting back in January. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Garner was down 55-11.
