Softball Game Preview: Roseburg Indians vs. Sandy Pioneers

The Roseburg Indians will square off against the Sandy Pioneers at 12:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Roseburg 2.6, Sandy 4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Five must be Roseburg's lucky number: they beat Grants Pass with that score not once but twice last Saturday. The Indians beat the Cavemen by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-2. The win was nothing new for the Indians as they're now sitting on three straight.

Cambria Bachmeier spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

At the plate, Ella Martinez-Bryson was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Terra Singleton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sandy). They put the hurt on Redmond with a sharp 21-1 victory on Thursday. Considering the Pioneers have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Sandy's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-10. As for Roseburg, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-7.
