Baseball Recap: South Lake Comes Up Short

South Lake fell victim to Umatilla and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The match marked the first time this year in which the Eagles were not able to get on the board.

N Mclees was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched six innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, South Lake saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was J Brown, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

South Lake has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. Umatilla's record now sits at 8-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Lake will take on Boone at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Boone will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something South Lake surely won't give up without a fight. As for Umatilla, they will face off against Shipley at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
