Baseball Game Preview: Bayonne Bees vs. Union City Soaring Eagles

For the second straight game, Bayonne will face off against Union City. The Bees will be playing at home against the Soaring Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Bayonne is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

Bayonne managed to slip by Union City the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bees came up short against the Soaring Eagles on Monday, falling 10-2.

For Union City's part, Wilme Mas Sarda made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Mas Sarda a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Jayden Perez was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Cristian Mejia was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Union City is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Bayonne, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
