Volleyball Recap: Carlinville Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Carlinville had to start their season on the road on Tuesday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bunker Hill Minutemen. The Cavaliers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Minutemen apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

While Carlinville was not able to win a set, they sure kept things interesting: every set was decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 26-24, 25-22.

Madeline Murphy paced Carlinville's offense, picking up eight kills. Murphy got some help from Rowan Nepute and her 17 assists.

Carlinville will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Auburn at 7:00 p.m. As for Bunker Hill, they will challenge Edinburg at 7:00 p.m. on September 3.
