Softball Recap: Tavares Wins Going Away Against Vanguard

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Tavares had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Vanguard Knights with a sharp 9-2 win. This was a revenge game for the Bulldogs: when they faced off against the Knights last Thursday, they had to take a 9-1 defeat.

Tavares let Aliyah Cantu-Lopez and Nina Earl run wild. Cantu-Lopez went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Earl went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one double.

Tavares pushed their record up to 13-8 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Vanguard, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.

Coming up, Tavares will face off against Eau Gallie at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Commodores will roll in looking for their 11th straight victory, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. Vanguard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
