Basketball Recap: Wheaton Falls to Pleasant Hope in First Game of Season

Wheaton had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were dealt a 68-36 loss at the hands of the Pleasant Hope Pirates on Saturday. The Bulldogs lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 50-41 score last time.

Despite the defeat, Wheaton had strong showings from Kaman Kinnaman, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, and Brody Bateman, who posted 20 points and five boards.

Wheaton has already played their next matchup, a 72-29 victory against Verona on the 24th. As for Pleasant Hope, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 79-64 loss against Fordland on the 24th.
