Preview: Cherokee Indians vs. Covenant Christian Eagles
Cherokee is 0-10 against Covenant Christian since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Cherokee Indians on the road again and play against the Covenant Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on January 26th. Cherokee comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
Cherokee suffered their biggest loss yet this season two weeks ago. They were dealt a 62-22 defeat at the hands of Waterloo.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Covenant Christian, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-35 loss to Shoals Christian on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Covenant Christian in their matchups with Shoals Christian: they've now lost three in a row.
Cherokee dropped their record down to 1-12 with that loss, which was their eighth straight on the road. As for Covenant Christian, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Cherokee, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 39-24 loss to Covenant Christian when the teams last played on January 8th. Can Cherokee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
