First Flight skates past Camden County with ease

The First Flight Nighthawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 27 points or more this season. They breezed by Camden County at home to the tune of 51-24. Given First Flight's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Camden County is ranked 462nd), the result on Monday wasn't entirely unexpected.

First Flight found their leader in underclassman Maddy Beatson, who scored 15 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Beatson has scored at least 25% of First Flight's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Phanton, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.

First Flight's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Camden County, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

First Flight will head out on the road to face off against Hertford County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Camden County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Northeastern at 6:00 p.m.
