Softball Recap: Statesville Greyhounds vs. East Lincoln Mustangs
Statesville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 33 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 0-19 in the process. They came up short against the East Lincoln Mustangs, falling 20-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-1 on Monday.
As for East Lincoln, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games.
For East Lincoln's part, they let Brylee Belcher and Kiley Crowe run wild. Belcher went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases and two runs, while Crowe went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave Belcher a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lyla Haywood, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
