Basketball Game Preview: Northview Titans vs. Westlake Lions

The Northview Titans will take on the Westlake Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. Northview is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season.

Westlake will be up against a hot Northview squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Northview was the clear victor by a 50-28 margin over Lithonia on Friday. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northview's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tamariana Bivins, who posted nine points and five steals. Bivins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Milan Johnson, who earned six points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Northview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Westlake unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against Carrollton, falling 66-44. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-15.

Northview's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-7. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 25.3 points per game. As for Westlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-7.
