Basketball Game Preview: Newington Nor'easters vs. Windsor Warriors

The Newington Nor'easters are taking a road trip to square off against the Windsor Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Newington earned a 38-26 win over Enfield. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Nor'easters.

Newington found their leader in freshman Alina Soler, who went 5 for 8 on her way to 13 points and three steals. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for Soler. Hope Romanello was another key player, putting up four points and nine rebounds.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Windsor). They walked away with a 67-60 victory over Bristol Central on Monday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Warriors' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Rams are ranked fifth).

Newington's record is now 6-4. As for Windsor, their record is now 4-2.

Things could have been worse for Newington, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 51-33 loss to Windsor when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Newington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
