Softball Recap: Mott Comes Up Short

Mott extended their losing streak to eight on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-19 in the process. They came up short against the Lakeland Eagles, falling 11-0. If the Corsairs were looking for revenge after losing 17-0 to the Eagles when the teams met back in May of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Lakeland, they moved to 15-8 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 games by seven runs or more this season.

For Lakeland's part, Melina Wing made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over five innings pitched. Wing was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Hewitt, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Izzy Bedini was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

While Mott had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
