Soccer Game Preview: Ellicott vs. Salida

Ellicott hasn't had much luck against Salida recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Thunderhawks will challenge the Spartans at 4:00 p.m. Both teams beat their previous opponents by a single goal, so this matchup might be just as contested.

Ellicott is coming into the matchup on the come-up as their season has now been buoyed by two straight wins. They came within a single goal of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against Rocky Mountain Lutheran. That's two games straight that Ellicott have won by just one goal.

Gasperd Bonnet and Kevin Avila Dorado scored both of Ellicott's goals, bringing their combined season tally to five goals.

Meanwhile, Salida had just enough and edged out James Irwin 2-1 on Thursday. Given Salida's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while James Irwin are ranked 210th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-6. As for Salida, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.

Ellicott might still be hurting after the 5-0 defeat they got from Salida in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Thunderhawks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
