Baseball Recap: Shorecrest Drops Highest Score of Season Against Sedro-Woolley

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shorecrest). They were the clear victors by a 20-14 margin over the Sedro-Woolley Cubs on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Scots, who have now won three matches in a row.

The team relied heavily on Quinn Burnham, who scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in five of his six plate appearances. Those five stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Leptich, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.

Shorecrest was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .405. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Shorecrest pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Sedro-Woolley, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shorecrest will welcome Edmonds-Woodway at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
