Volleyball Recap: Southside's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Southside came into Tuesday's match having lost 17 straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Winn Mavericks on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 win. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Cardinals this season.

Southside walked away with the victory (and looked especially good in the second set). Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-15, 25-21.

Southside had a senior duo take command as Gabriella Galindo had 13 digs and three aces and Justinne Padilla had 14 digs and two aces. Galindo is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 14 or more in each of the last seven games she's played.

Southside's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 4-24. As for Winn, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-22.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Southside is set to challenge their familiar foe Southwest Legacy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Winn will square off against rival South San Antonio at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
