Baseball Recap: J.P. McCaskey Takes a Loss

J.P. McCaskey extended their losing streak to nine on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 1-9 in the process. They fell 9-4 to the Penn Manor Comets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Tornado of the 5-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Penn Manor, their record is now 2-5. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Penn Manor's part, Billy Riggs made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Riggs was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Angel Luna, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Jackson Stuart was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

J.P. McCaskey didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 6-1 defeat against Manheim Township on the 9th. As for Penn Manor, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-1 loss against Hempfield on the 9th.
