Basketball Recap: Wills Point Takes a Loss

Wills Point suffered their biggest defeat since December 3rd on Friday. They had to suffer through a 56-28 loss at the hands of the Kaufman Lions. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost five in a row.

Kaufman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaylee Wrenn, who went 9 for 15 on her way to 23 points in addition to six steals and five assists. That's the most steals Wrenn has posted since back in November. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubre Prox, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 17 points and six boards.

Wills Point's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-6. As for Kaufman, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-4.

Wills Point and Kaufman should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Wills Point (ranked 337th) will meet Palestine (ranked 706th) at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Kaufman (ranked 147th) will meet Lindale (ranked 384th) at 3:40 p.m. on Saturday.
