Baseball Recap: Strasburg Sets Scoring Season-High Against Stonewall Jackson

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Strasburg). They were the clear victors by a 23-8 margin over the Stonewall Jackson Generals on Monday. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Peyton Dean looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Strasburg got a massive performance out of Harper Sherman, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that Sherman has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Britton, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Strasburg kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in seven consecutive games.

Strasburg's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-1. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Stonewall Jackson, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Strasburg will challenge James Wood at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Stonewall Jackson, they will take on Luray at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
