Basketball Game Preview: Cloudcroft Bears vs. Animas Panthers

The Cloudcroft Bears will head out to challenge the Animas Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Cloudcroft will be strutting in after a victory while Animas will be coming in after a loss.

Cloudcroft and Carrizozo faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Monday. Cloudcroft couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 68-37 blowout they got against Carrizozo. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Animas was not able to break out of their rough patch back in December of 2024 as the team picked up their 22nd straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a blow against Capitan, falling 70-29.

Animas' loss dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Cloudcroft, the win got them back to even at 5-5.

Everything went Cloudcroft's way against Animas in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, as Cloudcroft made off with a 70-45 victory. Will Cloudcroft repeat their success, or does Animas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
