Basketball Recap: Nelson County Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Bryce Giles and Colton Ward

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Nelson County can now relate to. They lost to the Graham G-Men on the road by a 66-51 margin on Tuesday. The Governors have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.

Nelson County's loss came despite strong showings from Colton Ward and Bryce Giles. Ward went 11-for-13 en route to 23 points and five rebounds, while Giles dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards. What's more, Giles also posted an 86% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in January. Aiden Carter was another key player, putting up four points and eight assists.

Nelson County's defeat dropped their record down to 19-6. As for Graham, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-4.

Nelson County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Graham, they will face off against Floyd County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Graham knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 15 matches -- so hopefully Floyd County likes a good challenge.
