Basketball Recap: Greensburg Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous seven meetings between Greensburg and East Central, and East Central kept the tradition alive. The Greensburg Pirates received a blow on Friday as they fell 45-29 to the East Central Trojans. The match marked the Pirates' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Defeat or not, Greensburg got some senior leadership from Jack Mckinsey and Reece Beaver. Mckinsey shot 67% from the field to rack up 13 points and five boards, while Beaver posted eight points. Mckinsey is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played.

Peyton Hofer was his usual excellent self, going 6-for-10 en route to 16 points for East Central. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Rogers, who earned seven points and five rebounds.

Greensburg has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-11 record this season. The win made it two in a row for East Central and bumps their season record up to 9-13.

Greensburg has already played their next match, a 58-44 loss against Batesville on the 4th. As for East Central, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-33 defeat against Whiteland on the 7th.
