Basketball Recap: Camden Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Camden had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 points) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They came within five points of losing the streak, but they secured a 63-58 W against the Central Valley Academy Thunder. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Blue Devils' disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while the Thunder are ranked 108th).

Despite the loss, Central Valley Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brayden Smalls dropped a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance gave Smalls a new career-high in boards. Another player making a difference was Logan Judd, who went 5 for 8 en route to 14 points.

Camden's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Central Valley Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Camden has already played their next match (against Sandy Creek), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Central Valley Academy, they will face off against Rome Free Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
