SouthWest Edgecombe waltzed into their game on Saturday with ten straight wins... but they left with 11. They took their contest with ease, bagging a 73-20 win over the Tarboro Vikings. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Vikings are ranked 498th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead SouthWest Edgecombe to victory, but perhaps none more so than A'Chonacey Mabry, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten steals. Mabry is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ka?Mariya Gandy, who went 9 for 15 en route to 20 points along with seven rebounds and six steals.

SouthWest Edgecombe pushed their record up to 12-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.8 points per game. As for Tarboro, their loss dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. SouthWest Edgecombe will face off against West Craven at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Craven will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something SouthWest Edgecombe surely won't give up without a fight. As for Tarboro, they will take on Rocky Mount Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
