Football Game Preview: Coronado Islanders vs. Mar Vista Mariners + How To Watch

The Coronado Islanders will take on the Mar Vista Mariners at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Coronado has given up an average of 27 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Last Friday, Coronado had to suffer through a 49-14 loss at the hands of Mission Bay. While losing is never fun, the Islanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 637th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 270th).

Coronado might have lost, but man, Chase Jenkins was a machine: he rushed for 56 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also picked up 72 receiving yards. Reese Pagon also helped out with an impressive 87 receiving yards.

Mar Vista played against San Diego on Friday and lost via forfeit.

This is the second loss in a row for Coronado and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Mar Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Coronado against Mar Vista in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the team secured a 51-8 win. In that game, the Islanders amassed a halftime lead of 36-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
