The Sand Point Eagles/Lady Eagles had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against Chief Ivan Blunka by a score of 44-37 on Thursday. That's another feather in the cap for Sand Point, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Among those leading the charge was Rowdy Tripp, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Tyler Gundersen was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Sand Point's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Chief Ivan Blunka, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Sand Point won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Newhalen at 2:00 p.m. on January 19th. As for Chief Ivan Blunka, they will take on Sand Point at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
