Basketball Recap: Greenville Comes Up Short

Greenville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They took a hard 54-36 fall against the Gentry Rams. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hornets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 43-28 last Tuesday.

When it comes to explaining why Greenville lost, don't look at Keniyha Rhodes. Despite the final result, she went 6 of 15 on her way to 17 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Rhodes a new career-high in points. Crystal Peoples was another key player, putting up nine points.

Za'Kensly Yarbor had a dynamite game for Gentry, dropping a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Yarbor has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Aniya Williams, who posted nine points and five steals.

Greenville's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Gentry, the win got them back to even at 11-11.

Greenville has already played their next game, a 40-20 defeat against Cleveland Central on the 3rd. As for Gentry, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 54-53 victory against Holmes County Central on the 3rd.
