Baseball Recap: Milton's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

Milton was the 9-7 winner over Central Columbia when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. Milton fell just short of Central Columbia by a score of 5-4 on Monday. The loss put an end to the Black Panthers' undefeated start to the season.

Brayden Gower spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on four hits.

At the plate, Montgomery Fisher was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chase Lytle, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Milton fell to 2-1. As for Central Columbia, they pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milton will take on Midd-West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Central Columbia, they will face off against Danville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Central Columbia's pitchers better be ready for this one: Danville has averaged an impressive 10 runs per game this season.
