Basketball Recap: Harvest Prep's Loss Ends Eight-Game Winning Streak on the Road

It was a good run, but Harvest Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell to the Stranahan Mighty Dragons 72-68. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 131st in Ohio, while the Mighty Dragons are ranked 39th in Florida).

Harvest Prep lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Antwon Pollard, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 17 points in addition to five assists and three steals. That's the most steals Pollard has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Roddy, who posted 13 points along with six assists and four steals.

Even though they lost, Harvest Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Christian Yeargin was nothing short of spectacular for Stranahan: he put up 31 points and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Yeargin is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Esron Simeon, who posted eight points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Harvest Prep's defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-2. As for Stranahan, they pushed their record up to 8-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season.

Harvest Prep wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 88-52 loss against Northwestern on the 20th. As for Stranahan, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 71-38 victory against Lexington Catholic on the 20th.
