Softball Game Preview: Lowell Red Devils vs. Chiloquin Panthers

The Lowell Red Devils will head out on the road to challenge the Chiloquin Panthers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Lowell has four straight wins, Chiloquin has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Lowell not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 27th (when they won 15-3). They were the clear victors by a 19-9 margin over Chiloquin.

Kyla McCart made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Lowell let Madison Thurman and Zayah Isley run wild. Thurman went 3-for-5 with eight stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles, while Isley went 3-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Thurman has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last nine times she's played. Another player making a difference was Christina Henshall, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Lowell was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Chiloquin's loss dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Lowell, their record now sits at 10-14.
