Baseball Game Preview: Everett Crimson Tide vs. Somerville Highlanders

The Everett Crimson Tide are taking a road trip to square off against the Somerville Highlanders at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Everett is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Everett's offense. They fell just short of Lynn English by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Derek Soper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Somerville lost 8-1 to Medford on Thursday.

Everett's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Somerville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season.

Everett skirted past Somerville 3-2 in their previous matchup back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crimson Tide since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
